Pride in Our Students

I am exceptionally proud of the conduct of our senior students during last week’s 2026 Activity Week. I had the privilege of accompanying the Japan group and was struck by the unsolicited feedback we received from those working with our students. They spoke repeatedly of their respectfulness, curiosity, engagement, and inclusivity, and commended the school for shaping such thoughtful, kind and balanced young people. Moments like these remind us of the impact of our shared work as a community and our school shapes future-ready and resilient young people.

Stepping into Secondary

I warmly invite Year 1 – 10 parents to join our Stepping into Secondary event next Wednesday, where you will have the opportunity to visit lessons, hear directly from our students, and gain a deeper understanding of daily life in our Secondary School.

An Opportunity to Serve Our School Community

Following the departure of Brigitte McNamara in February and some internal restructuring within the Advancement and Communications Team, we have made some role adjustments to better support our goals and aspirations for the school’s continued development.

We are pleased to announce that Vicky Hill will lead the Advancement and Communications Team as Director. Vicky will lead a team comprising of:

  • Quincy Gonzales – Digital and Visual Communications Coordinator

  • Jenely San Juan – Community and Communications Officer

  • Billie Home – Communications Assistant (This role will evolve later in the year into a Community Engagement Assistant position).

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join the Advancement and Communications Team as Community Advancement Manager. We are seeking an individual with a passion for advancing the school. Applicants and the capacity to revitalise alumni engagement, philanthropic endeavours, researching fundraising initiatives or donors, and broader sponsorship and community engagement. We would greatly appreciate the support of our parent body in sharing and promoting this opportunity within your networks, as we seek the right person to help shape our aspirations in the next chapter of this important work. AISHK is a non-for-profit school and this is a role which is important in our continued development and future aspirations as a community of learners.

Please find the details for this important role here, Community Advancement Manager

Cyber Safety Focus This Week This week we have placed a strong focus on cyber safety across the School with our students, and I would like to sincerely thank Susan McLean, an internationally respected Australian leader in this field, for her guidance and expertise. Susan’s work reminds us that cyber safety is not simply about technology, but about relationships, choices, and wellbeing. Key themes explored with students included respectful and responsible online behaviour, understanding digital footprints, protecting privacy, recognising and responding to online risks, and the importance of speaking up and seeking support when concerns arise. These conversations reinforce our shared responsibility—students, staff, and families—to create safe, inclusive, and thoughtful online communities.

I would encourage every family to have conversations at home about responsible use of technology and staying safe online. A key message from Susan’s information sessions this week was to keep devices out of bedrooms and bathrooms at home.
