Years 7-9 Parent Questionnaire: Parental Controls for Student Laptops

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting students’ safe and responsible use of technology, the School is exploring options that may provide parents with greater visibility and control over their child’s use of their laptop outside school.

One area under consideration is whether a home-supported parental control arrangement could complement the protections and network controls already in place at school. Depending on the approach, this could potentially allow parents to apply or manage appropriate controls when a student’s laptop is being used at home or away from the School network.

At this stage, we are seeking to understand the level of interest within our parent community, how families currently manage device use at home, and the extent to which parents would be willing to engage with and support such an arrangement.

Your feedback will help the School assess the needs of families and consider the practicality, potential benefits and implications of any future approach. The questionnaire forms part of an initial exploration only, and no decision has been made regarding whether a parental control solution will be introduced.
