Updated: Jun 26

The school has been busy planning and executing a number of exciting projects over the past year. These works are part of the school’s annual capital investment and expenditure plans. The July break gives the school a chance to carry out more planned works.

The completed refurbishment works to date are:

  • 9F swimming pool changing rooms, 8F adult toilets and accessible toilets and the GF student and accessible toilets were renovated, to a high standard.

  • Two additional seminar rooms were constructed on the 8F.

  • Interactive Flat Panels were installed in all Primary classrooms; these are a significant resource that makes learning more interactive.

  • All the Secondary school lockers on the 8F were replaced. Secondary student lockers on the 6F & 7F will also be replaced in December.

  • Phase 1 of our campus signage and way-finding project has been completed.

March / April projects

  • Recently the school installed two new water bottle filling stations on the 2F & 5F, which have been well received by students and families. New water stations will be installed during the July break.

  • The replacement of all the GF field benches and resurfacing of down-ball and basketball zone was completed.

  • Phase 1 of the swimming pool air conditioning project was successfully installed.  This initiative has had an enormously positive effect lowering the temperature and humidity in the pool area.

  • Adult changing facilities have been installed on the 9F next to the swimming pool.

July 2025 projects:

  • Phase 2 of the swimming pool air circulation project will be completed to ensure the swimming pool environment remains stable and cool all year round.

  • The Primary offices will be renovated with new carpet and paint and energy efficient LED lighting throughout. This is a space where students, families and visitors are welcomed into.

  • We are planning renovations to the 2F, repainting doors and improving the stage in the Auditorium, to improve this space for everyone.

  • Interactive Flat Panels will be installed in all the 6F classrooms.

  • New water fountains and bottle filling stations will be installed on each floor.

Looking ahead to the December 2025 break, four significant projects are planned:

  1. Four Primary classrooms will be renovated on the 4F to reflect the contemporary practices and features of Australian independent schools. These renovations are part of a pilot project to understand how to create the best possible learning environment for students. Teachers and students will be able to inform further improvements and renovation work of the Primary classrooms.

  2. 8F the Learning Enrichment Center for Secondary students including psychology services will be renovated.

The 8F Secondary office space will also be renovated.

  3. Commencement of Phase One of the Wellness Wing. The GF tuckshop will be repurposed as a classroom, human movement lab (or gym) and the PDHPE and Sport Office.  This will bring this department together in one accessible space and teaching zone.

Due to the repurposing of the GF tuckshop, the 1F Cafeteria will undergo a major redevelopment with new lighting, furniture and extension into the Sports Terrace. It will be a significant upgrading of the 1F Cafeteria for students, families and visitors.  The space will incorporate coffee shop style seating to create an inviting area for parents, senior students and parents.

  4. Upgrading the whole school's Wi-Fi network with new Wi-Fi 7 Access Points.

Beyond January 2026 planning is underway for:

  • The systematic renovation of all student bathrooms, to the same standard as the current 6F and 9F changing rooms.

  • The continued roll out of the renovations of Primary and Secondary classrooms.

  • Some improvement works in the 4F and 6F gymnasiums.

The school is undergoing exciting changes and there will be further campus master plans to share in the future.  In the meantime, if you have any questions, please do reach out to kevin_elliott@aishk.edu.hk.
