The Primary Environmental Committee has been doing a fantastic job helping to ensure that the classroom bins are emptied each week. It’s great to see them showing their Early Childhood buddy classes how to sort and dispose of the recycled items in a safe and efficient manner.

We [the Environmental Committee staff and students] are very proud of the progress we’ve made!
The chart below shows just how much recycling we’re disposing of each week. This increase is good news for our planet, as it means that these items are now being recycled and are no longer going to landfill.

The first step in the cycle is complete. The next step is to reduce the amount of waste we produce.
♻️ Waste Reduction Tips:
Only bring the amount of food that you can eat. Remember, any extra that goes in the garbage will go to landfill.
Use reusable containers to pack lunches.
Avoid single use plastics (ie disposable zip-top bags, plastic bags from grocery/bakery stores, individually wrapped items).
Buy items in bulk when possible (ie purchase large yogurt and divide into smaller reusable containers, buy larger bag of crackers/crisps and put into smaller reusable containers).
Choose products with minimal packaging.
