Following their eSafety webinar presented by ySafe early in Term 3, Year 3 students further explored into the world of digital wellbeing through a hands-on workshop led by Primary School Psychologist Joanna Chan and Primary Technology Integration Specialist Troy Savill.
Building on themes from the webinar, such as protecting private information, gaming online, chatting safely, and seeking help, students explored how their online choices could impact their overall wellbeing and affect their relationships at school.
During the Digital Wellbeing sessions, students created their own Digital Nutrition™ Pyramid, helping them reflect on the types of content they consume online. Inspired by psychologist Jocelyn Brewer’s Digital Nutrition™ framework, they considered the balance between educational content, creative software, and stimulating media: the “healthy foods” of the pyramid versus mindless and repetitive content, the “junk food.”
Through group activities and guided reflections, students learnt how online behaviour outside of school could influence their offline behaviour during school. They also reflected on why empathy, respect, and help-seeking are essential for safe and positive digital experiences.
This workshop equipped students with practical strategies to make informed, respectful and safe choices both online and offline, laying the foundation for lifelong digital citizenship.
Below are few of the 'pyramids' that our students have created.
