Outstanding Performances at the Secondary Music Recital

The Performing Arts Department hosted a Secondary school recital, this week, a celebration of students' commitment to excellence in music. The recital showcased a curated selection of performances during assembly on 6 May.
In preparation for the recital, students participated in a workshop with professional musicians, Mr William Lane, violist and Director of the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble, and Dr Kawai Chan, Piano Professor at Hong Kong Baptist University. AISHK's musicians received expert feedback on interpretation and presentation, with a focus on positive psychology for practice and performance. The expert guidance along with the performers dedication to music resulted in outstanding performances. In reaction, the audience said the music was "powerful", "wonderful" and "very emotive".

Ailsa Kant (Viola) – Prelude from Suite No. 4 (Bach)
Matthew Lam (Piano) – Fantasia in D Minor, K.397 (Mozart)
Adwin Ho (Alto Saxophone) – Concertino, Op. 78 (Singelée)
Brandon Lam (Piano) – La Leggierezza (Liszt)
Madison Kiang (Harp) – Première Arabesque (Debussy)
Lucas Ching Ho (Piano) – He’s a Pirate (Badelt/arr. Maksim Mrvica)
Head of Performing Arts Mr. Joseph Travers, shared, "The standard of musicianship was outstanding. I want to congratulate every student who participated in the workshop and the recital; it takes immense dedication to push past your comfort zone and achieve such a high level of performance."
