As Term 3 comes to an end, I want to acknowledge the resilience and spirit of our school community. Despite the frustrations and challenges posed by recent weather disruptions, the patience, flexibility, and support shown by students, staff, and families has been remarkable.

To those families and students leaving our school, we extend our best wishes for the future and thank you for your contributions. We also extend our best wishes to our Year 12 students now entering their final revision block for the upcoming HSC and IBDP examinations. The Class of 2025 have shown immense resilience and perseverance in their final term. This week our community was able to celebrate their graduation, overcoming the challenges of Typhoon Ragasa to honour this significant milestone for them and their families.

Looking forward to Term 4, we will share feedback from the recent school survey to guide our continuous improvement. We also anticipate announcing the outcome of the food service tender for our cafeteria in 2026.

The October Year 6 trip to Beijing promises to be a wonderful cultural experience, and next term we will be introducing our 2026 Prefects.

Student leadership is integral to AISHK education, offering opportunities for problem-solving, collaboration, and building confidence at every level. Selection for the 2026 Primary and Secondary student leadership teams began this term, with some appointments starting next term. Year 11 students underwent video, written, and interview assessments for Prefect positions, with an impressive pool of candidates. Many highlighted the school's impact on their development, confidence, positive relationships, and desire to support younger students and the community. Congratulations to all Year 11 participants and best wishes to Year 5 students as they begin their own selection process for the 2026 Year 6 leadership roles.  Every student can contribute meaningfully to AISHK, regardless of leadership roles. Student voices are central to my leadership, the school's success and our future.

The 2025 Primary Sustainability Committee met this week to formalise a partnership with The Alliance of Sustainable Schools (TASS). The signed charter sets out to support students in enhancing community initiatives and developing sustainability practices at AISHK. The committee sought this alliance to further integrate sustainability into school operations, expand connections with the broader Hong Kong community, and enhance knowledge of best practices. A very commendable leadership action from these primary students.

The AISHK community will mark another milestone in our 30th anniversary year when our school hosts the 2025 Australian International School Asia (AISA) Games in late November. We will welcome 350 athletes to AISHK from five countries for a three-day multi-sport event. Details on how to support the games will be provided next term.

Wishing everyone a restful break. I look forward to welcoming everyone back to school in Term 4, refreshed and ready for the final stretch of the academic year.
