As we step into the final stretch of the year, there’s a wonderful sense of excitement in the air. Term 4 is filled with engaging events, joyful celebrations, and meaningful opportunities to come together as a community. From our anticipated Primary musical Beauty and the Beast to festive gatherings like Jingle Mingle, there’s so much to look forward to. Let’s embrace these moments, support one another, and finish the year on a high note.
We began the term with a Primary assembly led by our school captains, a valuable opportunity to reconnect as a Primary section. The focus of our message was integrity, illustrated by the quote: “Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.” Students were also reminded of the importance of kind words and good manners, small actions that make a big difference.
In today’s Upper Primary assembly, we explored the power of inclusive and respectful language. At AISHK, we believe language is a vital tool for connection, learning, and growth. I was especially proud of our Year 5 students during their Leadership Day, where they demonstrated teamwork and thoughtful communication.
In a world where young people are exposed to language through social media, music, and popular culture, it’s important to help them understand the impact of their words. Casual use of inappropriate or insensitive language can be hurtful or exclusionary, even if unintended. As educators, we are committed to guiding students in developing respectful communication habits fostering empathy, kindness, and a sense of belonging. When students understand how their words affect others, they build stronger relationships and contribute to a more positive school culture.
Together, as a community, we can support our students in becoming confident communicators who use language to uplift, include, and inspire.
This week, our Year 5 students participated in a wonderful Leadership Day, joined by visiting parents who generously shared their insights and experiences. A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Page, Mr Johnston, and Mr Leong for taking time out of their day to enrich our future leaders. Their messages of courage, kindness, active listening, and having a clear vision resonated deeply with our students.
As we begin planning for 2026, one of our key tasks is the process of class placements. This week, students will be asked to list five friends they learn well with. At AISHK, we guarantee that each student will be placed with at least one of these friends in their new class.
We encourage parents to trust our teaching team with this process. Many factors are considered when forming balanced classes, including gender, academic ability, friendships, learning support needs, and wellbeing. If you have a specific request regarding your child’s placement, please submit a formal email to the Primary Office. While we cannot guarantee all requests will be accommodated, they may be considered where appropriate.
With the cooler change in weather, there’s a renewed energy across campus. As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Primary Office if you need any support, we’re here to help and happy to assist our families.
