It has been wonderful to see our classrooms buzzing with energy as we welcome our primary students back to school. Routines are now well and truly settling, and every day our students are looking increasingly comfortable at school. The sense of familiarity, confidence and connection that comes with established routines is clear across our Primary School.

Last week, we were delighted to welcome more than 70 new students into our primary community, including our youngest students in Reception and Prep. Starting at a new school can be daunting, and we are incredibly grateful to our dedicated AISHK staff for the care, love and guidance they have shown our newest students and families. Their support has helped ensure a smooth and positive start for everyone.

This week, we also enjoyed opening our doors to parents for our Primary Information Evenings. It was a pleasure to connect with families at the Early Childhood Information Evening on Tuesday night and the Upper Primary Information Evening on Thursday evening. These sessions are an important opportunity to share community expectations, routines and ways we can work together in partnership to best support your children.

Please find the PDF versions of our slides here:

Next Monday 9 February we are holding a morning session for parents who are keen to help with learning in classrooms, please come along to the Auditorium at 8.30am where we will present regarding the importance of confidentiality and adult assistance in learning times. Note, that if you would like to help in classrooms you must come along to this session.

Finally, we would like to remind parents about SchoolTV, a wonderful wellbeing resource available to every AISHK community member. SchoolTV provides access to a wide variety of topics that support children’s wellbeing and development, and we highly encourage families to explore this valuable tool throughout the year. In the recent Australian of the Year awards, Dr Michael Carr-Greg, the founding psychologist, was recognised for his incredible work with SchoolTV.

There is a particularly helpful collection of resources regarding transitions to new schools and between years within schools, please feel free to access here.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to build a warm, caring and connected primary school community.
