Year 3 students recently teamed up with Year 9 students for an engaging hands-on science lesson exploring the three methods of heat transfer: convection, conduction and radiation.
Working in small groups, the Year 3 students rotated through three experiments, with the Year 9 students guiding them at each station. Students observed convection currents in water, compared heat conduction in different materials and investigated how heat is transferred by radiation from a lamp.
Head of Science Andrew Hill said, "Our Year 9 students gained a lot from the activity as they took on the challenge of explaining scientific phenomena to the Year 3 students and responding to their questions."
