We are thrilled to invite all AISHK families to join us for the first community event of the 2026! This year’s celebrations coincide with the Lunar New Year festival so we have a wonderful opportunity to also welcome the Year of the Fire Horse with families, staff, alumni, board members and friends of the school.
The parent association has been hard at work to create a fun-filled evening for everyone, including:
Bai Sun ceremony - a traditional Chinese ceremony to honour the gods, ensuring a year filled with good fortunes;
Lion Dance and private Choy Cheng - the mystical, playful lions dance to fight away bad luck, whilst showering us good health & prosperity through the Choy Cheng ceremony;
Student performances from our cheerleaders, Chinese drummers and rock bands;
Our famous BBQ stall, cake stalls, garden bar;
Student-led face painting stall.

Happy to Help Out? – Many Hands Make Light Work!
Want to get to know new people within the AISHK community? Supporting this whole school event is the best way to do it.
The school needs you for 30mins to help at one of the stalls. There are plenty of ways to help from flipping snags on the barbie or selling soft drinks. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Baked Goods Stall
If you prefer to give by way of tasty treats, please donate sweet or savoury items to our Bake Sale.
Food & Beverage | What to Bring?
Families are welcome to bring a picnic blanket and their own food & drinks (please avoid nuts). Space for blankets is first-come-first-serve from 4:00pm. You can also enjoy a sausage sizzle (vegetarian options available), corn on the cob, fried udon noodles, soft drinks, beer, wine, and treats from the Bake Sale - all for purchase. The school cafeteria will be closed.
Token System
We will be running a token system for item purchases on the day. These may be purchase at Token Booths located at various points on the field.
Payment for tokens is via CASH or PAYME.
All profits from the Welcome Festival will support school enhancement projects enriching students' learning journey.
Choy Cheng with the Lion Dance Team
This year, we have a rare opportunity to introduce “Choy Cheng” to our Lion Dance ceremony at the Welcome Festival. Choy Cheng translates to “Plucking the Greens” in English.
Choy Cheng symbolises the lion’s blessing of wealth, fortune and good health, as well as offering protection against bad luck.
The PA committee has prepared limited Choy Cheng bundles (inclusive of lettuce, laisee & photo) for families who wish to participate in this rare opportunity to have their own Choy Cheng ceremony at the school's festival. The participation cost will be $388 per bundle (on the day walk-ins $600).
