Telling Tales - With the Author

On 17 August, Year 2 students welcomed Lindsay Varty, a Hong Kong-based author whose books celebrate the history and culture of Hong Kong.

Lindsay shared a reading from her book, Welly the Wild Boar. She also led the students through her story planning and writing process. Students then stepped into the role of authors themselves. They enthusiastically suggested characters, developed the storyline, and helped bring brand-new stories to life.

Colin Young, Head of Year 2, said, "This was a great way to begin our narrative writing unit. Linking the stories to significant places in Hong Kong also made for a strong connection with our geography learning."

Sebastian, Year 2 student, added, "I really enjoyed it because it showed me how to write a story and this is something I love doing!"
