On 22 September, AISHK Performing Arts welcomed 95 students and staff from Sydney Grammar Preparatory School's: Edgecliff Preparatory and St Ives Preparatory for the first concert of their Hong Kong tour.
The 80-piece orchestra and choir performed a rich and varied programme featuring Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony, music from Star Wars, and Gloria Estefan’s Let’s Get Loud. Choral highlights included Paul Jarman’s Take to the Sky, Annie Kwok’s Migaloo, and James Madsen’s Terra Australis, celebrating themes of travel, identity, and Australian culture.
Jacqueline Fane, Director of Music at St Ives said, “The staff and boys from Sydney Grammar School's two Preparatory Schools would like to sincerely thank AISHK for their wonderful support. That little connection with home was greatly appreciated by the group.”
Joseph Travers, Head of Performing Arts, added, “Our Years 3–6 students were fully absorbed as listeners and audience, answering questions and participating in activities. Special thanks to Jacqueline Fane and Caitlin Sherring, principals and staff from Sydney Grammar, tour coordinator Alasdair Gyngell and AISHK’s Jaime Ashton for supporting such an incredible experience for both performers and audience."
