With Year 12 students considering their next steps after AISHK, a recent visit from the Reverend Dr Ed Loane offered valuable insight into university life and the unique experience of residential colleges. Dr Loane is the Warden of St Paul’s College at the University of Sydney. Founded in 1856, St Paul’s is the oldest residential college in Australia.

Dr Loane spoke about what life in a residential college can offer, including a strong sense of community and belonging, access to supportive alumni networks, and the academic and pastoral care available to students. Dr Loane also spoke about the broader student experience, as well as application expectations and pathways. The session provided students with an overview of how residential colleges can enrich their university journey, supporting both their academic goals and personal development.

If your child is interested in applying to a residential college, please speak to either of the Secondary Careers advisors, Mr Wray or Mr Bailey. AISHK will happily provide references for any student applying.
