This week, a group of Secondary students attended the largest and most prestigious astronomy conference in the region, the Asia‑Pacific Regional IAU Meeting (APRIM). The meeting brings together leading researchers and astronomers from around the world.
AISHK was invited to attend by Shaw Prize laureate Professor Matthew Bailes. Students were actively involved throughout the event, engaging with international delegates while gaining an insight into the professional workings of a major scientific conference.
Students also attended lectures by world‑renowned scientists, including Nobel Prize winner Professor Brian Schmidt, they participated in a Q&A session led by Professor Bailes, and they took part in discussions with some of astronomy's leading figures.
Benjamin Foreman, Secondary Teacher, said, "It was a truly unique and once‑in‑a‑lifetime experience for many of our students—one that was both inspiring and educational, and which provided rare exposure to cutting‑edge scientific research and the global astronomy community."
