Secondary students recently attended the Asia‑Pacific Regional IAU Meeting (APRIM), widely regarded as the largest and most prestigious astronomy conference in the region, bringing together leading researchers and astronomers from around the world.

The opportunity was especially meaningful as our school was personally invited by Shaw Prize laureate Professor Matthew Bailes. Students were actively involved throughout the event, assisting at the registration desk and engaging with international delegates while gaining insight into the professional workings of a major scientific conference.

They also attended lectures by world‑renowned scientists, including Nobel Prize winner Professor Brian Schmidt, and participated in a student Q&A session led by Professor Bailes, where they asked questions and engaged in discussion with leading figures in astronomy.

Benjamin Foreman, Secondary Teacher, said, "It was a truly unique and once‑in‑a‑lifetime experience for many of our students—one that was both inspiring and educational, and which provided rare exposure to cutting‑edge scientific research and the global astronomy community."
