Mixed Martial Arts, Activity Week 2025

During Activity Week, one student group explored various forms of martial arts from different cultures, learning about their origins and practices. From Brazil's Capoeira, rooted in the traditions of enslaved populations, to Korea's Tae Kwon Do, developed to fend off wild animals, each martial art introduced the group to its distinctive techniques and values. The students sparred with each other, practiced the different disciplines, and embraced challenges - guided by skilled instructors who ensured their safety.
Highlights included Japan's Karate, Thailand's Muay Thai, and Wing Chun, which all showcased a unique blend of speed and precision. The week wrapped up with an exposure to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kali, wrestling, and finally, stage fighting; the immersion within these martial arts being both thrilling and rewarding.
