The celebration of next week's Lunar New Year is one of my favourite times of year. I wish everyone in our community a healthy and happy Year of the Fire Horse.
I look forward to seeing families on campus on the evening of the 27th of February for the Welcome Festival 2026. The Parent Association have been working incredibly hard to create a special event where we all join together and celebrate the Year of the Fire Horse and our strong AISHK community. Please find more details here. Please support our school and offer the school 30 minutes of your time as a volunteer at the Welcome Festival. You will find the volunteer link in the Dhanara.
‘Give to gain’ is the theme of the 2026 International Women's Day. In March AISHK will be acknowledging IWD differently than in previous years. A group of Year 12 prefects have planned activities that share the theme’s message and the meaning behind the day. There will be more about 2026 International Women’s Day next month in Dhanara.
The 2026 ANZAC Day Ceremony will be held on the school field on Friday 24th of April at 8.30am. All parents are welcome to attend and details about this important ceremony after the Chinese New Year holiday. Please save the date in your family’s calendar.
Congratulations to the AISHK Yes Club on their Hong Kong Volunteer Award for dedicated service and exceptional promotion of volunteerism throughout 2025. This award is given by The Home and Youth Affairs Bureau Agency for Volunteer Service. The AISHK Yes Club is driven by students, their leadership and commitment to service. It exemplifies the importance of empowering students to lead and make a difference. I look forward to joining their next service commitment on Saturday the 14th of March where students and staff will join the annual Weez Walk to raise awareness for youth mental health in Hong Kong.
Earlier this week I emailed all families about the change in the NAPLAN assessments following the NSW Education Standards Authority decision that international schools will no longer be able to access NAPLAN paper tests or the centralised marking service from the 2027 testing cycle. As such, in 2027, the school will transition to ACER ISA (International Schools Assessment). This suite of in-depth assessments will allow the continuation of testing for students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 via robust assessments in mathematics, reading, writing, and science. Thus, allowing us to continue monitoring individual and cohort progress using externally benchmarked data.
Congratulations to all the basketball teams who have been picking up medals and trophies and championship titles this term. Your dedication and commitment to teamwork are an inspiration to all.
Gong Hei Fat Choy AISHK!
