It is my great pleasure to announce that we have recruited a new Visual Arts teacher, Caroline Allams, who will replace Julie Emery when she moves to Malaysia.  Caroline comes to us from the UK, however, she has previously lived in Hong Kong and taught at Kellett School.  We are excited to welcome Caroline and trust that our community will welcome her with open arms.

The week began with a Year 6 Beijing Parent Information Session online, led by Kate Elliott and Joy Chung.  I was fortunate enough to attend the Beijing trip last year and immersing myself in Chinese culture and spending time with students and staff.

Our Year 6 cultural learning journey to Beijing is a highlight of the Primary school and a valued rite of passage as students prepare for their transition to high school. Over the course of the week, students step beyond the classroom to experience China’s rich history, vibrant culture, and daily life.

This unforgettable experience deepens students’ Chinese language skills through authentic, real world interactions, helping them grow in both confidence and capability. Living and learning together in a new environment also nurtures independence and resilience, as students take on new responsibilities and adapt to unfamiliar settings.

We are incredibly grateful to the parents who generously give their time to attend and support the trip. Their involvement plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, organisation, and success of the program, allowing our students to fully embrace this meaningful and enriching experience.

Chinese Parent Information Session

The Chinese Parent Information Session was a highly engaging and informative event that gave families a clear overview of the school’s daily Chinese program. The presentation highlighted how language learning is integrated into everyday life at AISHK, demonstrating both the academic depth and cultural richness of the curriculum. Parents also appreciated the opportunity to meet the Chinese teaching team.

A standout feature of the session was the student presentations. Primary students, Dash and Phoebe impressed with their confidence and enthusiasm, while Secondary students, Teariki and Aiden offered thoughtful insights into their experiences learning Chinese, sharing both challenges and achievements.

A brochure was distributed at the presentation, click here to view the brochure.
