We have had a wonderful couple of weeks, students are busy learning. Term Two is a wonderful term of development and growth.

This week, both Primary and Secondary enjoyed a wonderful House Mufti Day, “Tropical Takeover”. The event was led by our Eucalypt and Jacaranda House Captains and House Patrons, whose efforts brought great energy and enthusiasm to the day. A sincere thank you to our parent volunteers who supported the bake sale and sausage sizzle we greatly appreciate your time and contribution. Funds raised will go towards supporting the Cristina Noble Foundation.

For the first time, all Houses participated in a series of House games and had the opportunity to learn new chants. House spirit was truly on display, with students showing pride, teamwork, and enthusiasm throughout the day.

We also had a large team of 29 students representing AISHK at the HKPSSA event held at Kowloon Cricket Club this week. This was a fantastic experience for all involved, and we achieved strong results across the competition. Congratulations to all students for their effort and sportsmanship.

It is with regret that I inform our community that Joanna Chan, our Primary School Psychologist, has submitted her resignation and will be finishing at the end of this term to pursue further university study. Joanna has been a valued member of AISHK for the past six years, providing outstanding support to many students and families during challenging times. She will be greatly missed for her calm and caring nature.

For the remainder of 2026, we have secured a school counsellor from St John’s Counselling Service. Please warmly welcome Matthew Antinucci when you see him on campus. We will share his contact details once he has been fully onboarded to AISHK.

Reflection on Digital Effects on Young Children and the Power of Play. RECORDING HERE and support document here.

On Tuesday morning we had two visiting professors Dr Jana and Dr Li from Shenzhen who shared their findings regarding young children and the time spent on screens.  After this presentation Ms Bonazza, Ms Rosenowski, Mrs Brown, Mrs Troy and Mr Young shared their incredible growth and expertise in offering play based learning. They shared the development of play throughout early years and expressed the importance of play to develop life skills such as creativity, focus, social development and many more.  As the only Australian school in Hong Kong, we are committed to the ethos of children's right to play.
