Celebrating Creativity at the IB Visual Art and HSC Design and Technology Exhibitions
Last term, AISHK celebrated student creativity and innovation at the IB Visual Art and HSC Design and Technology Exhibitions.
The HSC Design and Technology exhibition showcased the culmination of nearly a year of work. Beginning at the end of Year 11, students identified a real need or opportunity and developed their ideas through extensive research, prototyping, testing and refinement. Alongside their final products, students completed detailed design folios documenting every stage of the design process.
Thomas McTiernan, Secondary Teacher, said, "One of the highlights of the exhibition is seeing the incredible variety of Major Design Projects on display. The exhibition is a nice way to celebrate not just the finished products, but all the persistence, experimentation and thinking that went into getting there."
The IB Visual Art Exhibition showcased a range of creative inquiry, with students exploring themes including identity, mortality, consumer culture, urban life and the relationship between people and the natural world. Working across painting, installation, mixed media and architectural modelling, students demonstrated both technical skill and conceptual depth, transforming personal experiences and everyday observations into thought-provoking works of art.
Many artworks encouraged viewers to look beyond the familiar and consider broader social, environmental and philosophical questions. Other students explored portraiture, symbolism and memory to examine the complexities of human experience and self-expression.
Congratulations to our young designers and artists!
