Students Represent AISHK at Outstanding Caring School Award Interview
AISHK's commitment to service was recently recognised when the school was invited to present before a judging panel for the Hong Kong Volunteer Award's JC VOLUNTEER TOGETHER Outstanding Caring School Award.
Representing the school at the interview were students Audrey Chan (Year 11) and Chloe Lai (Year 10), who joined Secondary Teacher and CAS Coordinator Lisa Darby in sharing the impact of AISHK's service initiatives and student-led volunteering programmes. While the outcome is yet to be announced, the opportunity highlighted the strong culture of service that exists across the school community.
Ms Darby said, "The invitation provided an opportunity to celebrate students' commitment to helping others. "NGO partners often ask whether participation is compulsory and are pleasantly surprised to hear how many students choose to give their time after school and at weekends. That willingness to contribute is something our school community should feel very proud of, whatever the outcome of the award."
Student leadership continues to play a key role in fostering that culture. Recent initiatives include The Bridge HK, developed by Year 12 Community Service Prefects James Goh and Sophie Tang, which helped inspire this year's student-led CAS Bridge Fair and connect more students with local volunteering opportunities.
Ms Darby praised Audrey and Chloe for their contribution during the interview. “Audrey and Chloe represented AISHK exceptionally well, speaking thoughtfully and confidently about our service work. Hearing students explain its value in their own words was a particular highlight and demonstrated the ownership they are taking.”
