Spotlight on, Meet the Finance Team

Iris Lu, Director of Finance  

“I oversee the full spectrum of financial management at AISHK, from financial analysis and budgeting to account reconciliation and timely reporting. I joined the school in December 2024. In the first six months I implemented new accounting systems and optimized our finance software to streamline operations. The supportive and understanding staff is one of the best things about the school. The work atmosphere is positive, and the school genuinely cares about staff wellbeing.”   

“Before joining AISHK, I worked as an Account Supervisor at Country Garden Education Group in China and have several years of professional accounting experience in both Australia and China.”  

Carmen Lo, Accounts Payable Officer  

“My role involves managing financial allocations to suppliers and service providers, including invoice processing and verification and payment processing. Prior to AISHK, I worked in accounts at different local schools. But I’ve worked at the school for 18 years. Our team is very efficient and we work smoothly together.”  

Alvar Lee, Accounts Clerk  

“I’m responsible for recording all incoming funds — from school fees and activity income to rental payments for our facilities. Before joining AISHK, I worked at local and international schools and in the food and beverage industry as an accountant.”  

“In my role one of the most important skills is attention to detail. We need to be careful and be sensitive to figures.  Sometimes even a $1 variance can be significant.”

“I joined the school last month, having never worked in a school before so I am learning a lot but it has been great and my colleagues have really helped me to find my feet.”  

I handle all purchasing for the school — from essential equipment to the occasional pizza (which is very important!).  

“Time management and people skills are essential for me. I interact with many individuals daily, each with unique needs, so staying organized and adaptable is key.” “Previously, I was a Procurement Manager for the National Health Service in Northern Ireland, UK.”  

The Team’s Fun Facts You Might Not Know  

Peter: I love making pizzas with different flavors. Pepperoni and garlic with hot sauce is one of my favorites!  

Iris: “I like hiking during my holidays. I really enjoy exercising in my leisure time and now I'm training my five and three-year-old kids to do the same. Last time we went hiking they kept sliding down the trail, sometimes on their heels and then on their chests. Eventually, I had to carry them the rest of the way and convince them we were heading toward a big dinner.”  

Carmen: “I love shopping — especially for shoes, bags, and clothes. I can easily buy three – five pairs of shoes in one trip!”  

Alvar: “I love music. Working with numbers can sometimes be stressful. Playing guitar and piano helps me unwind. I play Cantopop and some Disney songs, especially for my kids.”
