Congratulations to Year 12 students who completed their trial and mock exams this week. The cohort displayed outstanding resilience and flexibility as they navigated multiple disruptions to the exam schedule due to adverse weather. The students now enter the final phase of high school with lots of revision and preparation for final exams, punctuated by the highly anticipated senior formal next Friday. A big thank you to all the invigilators who ensured the exams ran smoothly.

For those taking subjects with practical components and major works, it’s an especially busy few weeks coming up, with deadlines for project work in English Extension 2, Design and Technology, Visual Arts and Music. Seeing the students’ final products emerge after so much hard work is always a highlight of the academic year.

Congratulations to the senior band who dazzled the audience at the recent ‘Pearl of the Orient’ school ball. The quality of performing arts at AISHK never ceases to impress and there have been some wonderful performances throughout the year at secondary assemblies, including this week. The valedictory events at the end of this term will provide further opportunities for our musicians to perform in front of big audiences.

Community service is another key pillar of an AISHK education. Congratulations to the students who last weekend visited elderly residents at Nam Cheong Estate in Sham Shui Po, supporting the work of the Life Commitment Charity Club. The students showed great care, empathy and maturity and the residents embraced the visits with deep gratitude and warm hearts. Thank you to Ms Darby for her excellent leadership working alongside the students.

Book Week has been a fun celebration of literature, reading, and storytelling, embraced by students and staff of all ages at AISHK, as evidenced by the large number of secondary students who dressed up as characters today. Books play a vital role in developing our students’ creative and reflective skills, while highlighting the diversity of stories and voices in our world, helping us connect with different cultures and perspectives. In a world of endless screens and short attention spans, being able to immerse oneself in the literary world of a good book is more important than ever.

Thank you to all students and staff who are helping at tomorrow’s ‘Experience a Day’ which will showcase secondary learning to the wider community. Have a great weekend!
