As we reach the end of an extremely busy but highly rewarding term, I’d like to wish all secondary families a fabulous summer holiday. The students have shown outstanding effort and commitment in so many varied fields and truly embodied the school motto of Connect, Strive, Flourish. Thank you to all teachers and staff – for their dedicated care and encouragement of our students; and to you, the parent community – for your loyal and ongoing support of AISHK and your children.

All week we have proudly celebrated Chinese culture, history and language and Wednesday’s assembly was a wonderful showcase featuring some fantastic student performances. Well done to our secondary Chinese team for all their superb efforts and slick organisation to make this event such a glorious success.

Today we saw the culmination of a new initiative of the wellbeing prefects – the secondary Talent Quest. Seeing such a wide range of student talents on display was the perfect way to end the term and send everyone into holidays in fine spirits. Well done to Vegas in year 12 and all the prefects who worked to make this happen.

For our hardworking Year 12 cohort, the holiday break provides time to both recharge and forge ahead with study in their HSC and IB programs. While schools in Australia only get a 2 or 3 week break at this time of year, the 4 week break for our Year 12 students offers a golden opportunity to revise and consolidate learning ahead of next term’s trial and mock exams. We are extremely proud of our most senior students and wish them every success as they enter the final phase of their schooling.

Year 10 families have now received the final timetable lines for 2026 subject decisions from Ms Bennett. While we strive to accommodate student preferences as best as possible, no school can offer every combination of senior subjects. Students and parents will now work with home room teachers and other key staff on 30 July at our subject selection interviews. As always, students are encouraged to approach this process from the perspective of subjects they need (for university or a career), enjoy or are good at.

As we head into summer, it’s always lovely to reconnect with so many alumni who are back in Hong Kong at this time of year and take the opportunity to visit Kowloon Tong to see old teachers and classmates. To any families leaving AISHK this semester, best wishes for the future, and please be assured that you will always be part of our global alumni community and very welcome to come back and visit the school.

Safe travels to families who are spending their holidays outside of Hong Kong, and to those staying in our vibrant city, may the summer times be fun and relaxing. Next term begins at 8:15 on Monday 28 July and we look forward to seeing all the students rejuvenated and ready to embrace new challenges then.
