Head of School Message, Term 2 Week 1 2026

Welcome back to a new term. I hope the break has provided time for rest, reflection and connection, and I thank you for the energy and commitment you bring as we begin Term 2.

As we start this term, we do so with ANZAC Day - an important moment for Australians and New Zealanders to pause and reflect. ANZAC Day invites us to remember the service and sacrifice of those who have served our nation, and to reflect on the values that continue to shape Australian identity.

The ANZAC spirit is commonly understood to embody courage, endurance, mate ship, resilience and compassion—qualities shown not only in times of conflict, but in how we live and work together every day. It reminds us of the strength found in community, the importance of looking out for one another, and the responsibility we each share to contribute positively to the world around us.

As a school grounded in Australian values, this is a fitting time to reflect on how these ideals are lived out in our classrooms, relationships and service to others. May this Term be one in which we continue to act with integrity, kindness and respect, honouring both our history and our shared commitment to the future.

I wanted to personally share that Chris Bird, our Deputy Head of Primary, will be relocating to Australia at the end of 2026. Chris has been a valued member of our school community, and I am deeply grateful for his dedication, leadership and genuine care for our students, staff and families. Chris’s positive influence will be missed and later this year we will take the opportunity to thank him formally for his lengthy service. On behalf of all of us, I extend heartfelt thanks to Chris for everything he has contributed to AISHK. An international recruitment process will soon begin to appoint a new Primary Deputy Head for 2027. We are committed to finding a new senior leader who will align with our school’s values, aspirations and continue Chris’s legacy of positive leadership for our vibrant school community.

I wish everyone a positive and purposeful start to the new term.
