Term 4 is one of the busiest of the year and almost every day this week we have welcomed parents to campus to watch the Beauty and the Beast musical, to enjoy the Athletics Carnival for Prep, Year 1 and Year 2, or to support our students at the Mufti Day bake sale. It has been a very busy week! As always, I congratulate the incredibly hard-working staff working tirelessly with our students to provide high quality learning experiences.

Parents play a fundamental role in a student’s successful learning journey, and your support is invaluable. Parents also bring the community together. Thank you to everyone for your active role in this.

This month AISHK will be hosting the Australian International School Association (AISA) Games. This is a huge sporting event, over three days involving six schools from South East Asia, five sports and approximately 300 young secondary athletes. On the morning of Saturday, the 29 of November, the AISA Games finals will be held on campus, and families are invited to come to school and watch these matches and join in the carnival atmosphere. More details about AISA Games will be shared next week.

Last week I visited Beijing with Year 6 students, teachers and a group of parent chaperones. It was a fantastic week where our students were immersed in Chinese culture, language and heritage. They were wonderful ambassadors for our school and so many adults commented on the curious and respectful attitudes our students displayed in the many locations we visited. During the week I saw students grow in confidence and resilience. They were required to be independently organised each day in a new environment and did this very successfully. I observed their Chinese language during the week which helped me on several occasions. During our visit to Beijing Shijia Primary School our students joined lessons and experienced an afternoon of school with pen pals. Overseas trips are one of the intentional activities the school offers students, so they have authentic opportunities to further their development as the global citizens of tomorrow. It was a wonderful trip, and I am very proud of the way the students conducted themselves.

In my next Dhanara message, I will update you on feedback from the Term 2 MMG survey and the recent Sport and PDHPE review.

I hope you enjoy a restful weekend.
