It’s hard to believe we are coming to the end of Week 8! With so many engaging activities across all year levels, the weeks are full of energy and learning.

Extreme Weather Online Learning Update

Recently, we shared an email with Primary families outlining updates to our online learning approach during extreme weather days. We are now including some face-to-face lessons for specialist classes. We encourage all families to engage with the lessons and materials provided. Our experience during COVID times has shown us the value of maintaining opportunities to connect, firm routines and offering robust learning opportunities, even when learning from home.

Admissions Assessment Morning

Last weekend, we welcomed over 100 students for our Admissions Assessment Morning. It was a pleasure to meet prospective families and hear firsthand about the strong reputation AISHK holds in the wider community. These conversations reaffirm the positive impact our school continues to make.

Student-Led Conferences

On Thursday, we held our Student-Led Conferences, a fantastic opportunity for students to take ownership of their learning by sharing their academic progress, achievements, and goals. We are incredibly proud of our students for their reflection, openness to feedback, and collaboration. We hope they found the experience empowering and meaningful.

Year 6 Change Makers

We were immensely proud of our Year 6 students last week as their term long “Change Makers” unit came to life. Focused on making a difference in the world, students presented their ideas with eloquence, engagement, and genuine passion, an inspiring reflection of a powerful inquiry unit.

This journey began late last term with a visit to Crossroads Foundation, a charity supporting underprivileged communities globally. Most recently, students visited Dignity Kitchen, a social enterprise empowering the socially disadvantaged. Throughout the process, our Year 6 students have demonstrated maturity, empathy, and leadership. We are excited to see the impact these young changemakers will have in the future.

Chinese Storytelling Festival

This week, we celebrated the Chinese Storytelling Festival, where students had the opportunity to perform stories in Chinese, either individually or in small groups. Congratulations to all who participated! We hope this experience inspires continued exploration of storytelling and Chinese culture. A heartfelt thank you to our Chinese teaching team for their dedication in preparing students for this special event.

Swim Galas

We’ve had a splash of excitement this week with three swim galas for Years 3, 4, and 5 held in our AISHK pool. The newly installed air conditioning in the pool area made the events even more enjoyable! Students competed in House groups, showcasing their swimming skills and team spirit. It’s always a joy to see Aussie culture and House pride in action.

Wishing you a wonderful end to term, and fingers crossed for no more extreme weather events through to the end of term.
