At this week’s Secondary assembly, I spoke about how the best part of my job is sharing and celebrating the many successes and achievements of our students. Whether it be the mature and diligent way Year 7 and 9 students completed NAPLAN, the outstanding leadership and initiative of our School Captains and Prefects, or the enthusiastic participation we saw each lunchtime in the inter-house soccer competition this week, our students continue to give us so much to be proud of.
With final assignments and assessment tasks for the semester now falling due, our Secondary teachers are busily preparing Year 7 to 11 reports to be released on the final day of term. Year 12 reports, meanwhile, went live on Parent Lounge today. In writing their report comments, our teachers are mindful of the significant challenges students faced earlier in the year with online learning and the ongoing varying circumstances many families still face. The feedback in the reports aims to give students and parents a chance to discuss areas of strength and growth in each subject, as well as set goals for next semester and beyond.
We look forward to next Tuesday 31 May when parent-student-teacher conferences for Years 11 and 12 will be held in the auditorium. This will be an excellent opportunity for teachers to share with senior students and their parents how they’re tracking in the HSC and IB programs. To allow staff adequate time to prepare for this important event, please note that Secondary classes will conclude early at 3pm on Tuesday. If you are unable to attend and wish to request online meetings with your child’s teachers, please contact them directly to arrange.
We’re also excited for the school’s first Appreciation Week beginning Monday, a brainchild of our Secondary SRC. The themes of gratitude and acknowledging important people in our lives will provide extensive opportunities for reflection and discussion. Until then, wishing all Secondary families a very happy and enjoyable weekend.
