[Head of School] Term 1 Week 1 Message

Welcome to all families and students to our 2022 school year. I do hope the Christmas and New Year period was a pleasant and refreshing time for all. There have been happy smiles as students and teachers got on with routines and established relationships both online and in classrooms and it is great to reconnect, even though we are running an online programme.

The successful strategic preparation of resources for Primary and their collection deserves commendation and contributed to a smooth start for Primary students, and yesterday’s announcement of the suspension of Secondary classes also signalled some alternate preparations for Secondary students.

Our students’ resilience and engagement along with their teacher’s well-honed online practices will continue to lead successful learning during this period.

The IB and HSC results for the Class of 2021 have been released and our students are pleased with their outcomes. They are now confirming places at universities in Australia and elsewhere and a detailed report of their movement will be shared in our “Pathways” publication next month. Of note, there were 10 students who were listed in the NSW Distinguished Students list for obtaining a Band 6 (90+) in one or more HSC subjects. Also, 58% of the IB and HSC students received an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank above 80, with the average ATAR being 84.

Wishing you all successful preparations for the Chinese New Year in the next week, as we anticipate a healthy and prosperous ‘Year of the Tiger’.
