Library News from Mrs Atkins

The Library has continued to be a hive of activity this term. In addition to the regular schedule,  we hosted groups of Year 6 students and their mentors to collaborate on Australian Stories and welcomed a large number of Secondary classes who utilised the Library space and resources. Year 7 also continued their Study Skills program and Year 11 IB students held their regular Extended Essay meetings in the Library. It has been wonderful to see the students utilise the space in a variety of ways.

Premier’s Reading Challenge (Prep-Year 6)
Next week, Primary students who completed the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge will receive their certificates. Congratulations to everyone for all your efforts with reading this year!

Author Narelle Cridland Book Orders
Unfortunately, there has been a delay in Ms Narelle Cridland’s second book deliveries from the UK. At this stage we are hoping to have them for students before the end of the year. If not, we will be in touch.

Year 6 & Secondary Author Visit-Karen McManus
As part of the Hong Kong Literary Festival, students in Years 6-11 will be invited to attend a pre-recorded author visit in the Library before the end of term. Karen is the author of the series ‘One of us is Lying’. This has proven to be a popular series in the Secondary Library.

It is hard to believe we are so close to the end of the school year and Christmas will be here before we know it!  The Primary students are mesmerised by all the Christmas decorations and we now have a large variety of Festive Season books available for students to borrow.

With the long holiday break coming up, all students are welcome to borrow books to read. However, we do request that all overdue books are returned prior to holiday borrowing. The Library will be closed for the holiday period and books will need to be returned at the commencement of school in January 2022.  A reminder that we also have ebooks and audiobooks available via AISHK Wheelers for Years 3-12. Students need to login using their School email and password.
