A warm welcome back to school for Term 4 from the Library Team. Despite the typhoon and Public Holiday, most Primary classes were able to return and borrow books this week. We also welcomed Rena Chiu’s Chinese class to the Library for borrowing and quiet reading time. Library lessons commenced for Prep, Year 1, Year 4 and Year 6. The lessons align with curriculum and include the continued development of the students’ information literacy skills. In Week 5, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 5 will then commence their Library lessons.
In Secondary, the distribution of Year 12 text books to the Year 11 students commenced and we welcomed a large amount of students into the Library to borrow books to read for pleasure. We are expanding our collection and encourage all students to visit at their convenience. 7A joined me in the Library for their visual/media literacy lesson on the text ‘Azaria’ written and illustrated by Maree Coote. All year 8 classes and three Year 7 classes have now attended the session with one Year 7 class postponed on Wednesday due to the typhoon.
We are pleased to let you know book quarantine is now 24 hours and this allows a much faster turn around for borrowing. A reminder, students from Years 3-12 are able to access e-books and audio books via AISHK Wheelers. To log in, students use their School email and password.
The Library website is a wonderful resource with has links to book suggestions, research tips, school subscriptions and passwords. It now also has a Competitions tab, check out what competitions are coming up both in Hong Kong and internationally. To access, studebts must be signed into their School google account.
