[Head of School] Term 4 Week 2 Message

It was a very fulfilling occasion to celebrate the completion of secondary school with our Year 12 Class of 2021, at their Valedictory assembly on Monday. The students and their parents, along with their teachers, share a strong sense of pride and belonging to the class and the school. The arrival of the Prep students towards the end of the assembly, bearing farewell gifts for the Year 12s, was a joyful moment representing the full cycle of a school life from being 6-year-old beginner to an 18-year-old graduate.

We now wish the Year 12 students much success in their examinations, with the IB Diploma exams starting next week and the HSC examinations commencing on 9 November. Results will be available to the students in January 2022.

It has been a great step to have both volleyball and soccer competitive events taking place this week and well done to those students who stepped-up to train and compete. These opportunities will become increasingly available to us as other schools open themselves up to sports competitions for vaccinated students.

I have also seen smiling and eager faces of Year 3 and Year 4 students each morning as they prepare to go off to camp. Their various activities involving hiking, kayaking, canyoning along as part of the busy days, bring a great deal of skill and confidence growth for the students. I’m sure there have been many stories back at home each evening.

We are looking forward to the sharing of Mental Health Week next week and ‘Tuning In’ to the activities for students, teachers, parents and our community. My thanks go to the school’s Student Wellbeing Committee for their organisation of the week-long program which will bring a strong sense of awareness and engagement.

The MMG Education Parent Survey is being distributed to all parents today and I do hope the time will be found to complete your responses. The feedback is a valuable part of our operational planning and I will be able to share some of the key points from the final report in 2022.

Best wishes for a fine, but cooler, weekend of family time and activities.
