This year, as part of our whole school Book Week celebrations, I was invited to speak at the Secondary Assemblies (Year 7-9) and (Year 10-12). I shared some Book Week photo memories of years gone by and announced the Children’s Book Council Of Australia’s (CBCA) winners for Book of the Year for both Younger Readers and Older Readers.
THE BOOK OF THE YEAR: YOUNGER READERS
Winner: Aster’s Good, Right Things by Kate Gordon
Honours: The Stolen Prince of Cloudburst by Jaclyn Moriarty & Kelly Canby and Worse Things by Sally Murphy and Sarah Davis
THE BOOK OF THE YEAR: OLDER READERS
Winner: The End of the World is Bigger than Love by Davina Bell
Honours: Metal Fish, Falling Snow by Cath Moore and Where we Begin by Christie Nieman

All of the CBCA books are in the Library and are now available for borrowing.
Book Week Science Week Poetry Competition
At the assemblies last week, I was delighted to announce the winners of the Book Week/Science Week Poetry Competition 2021. This was open to students in Years 3-12. Congratulations to the following winners:

Year 7-9: Jessica Phillips 8H
Year 10-12: Caitlyn Harbottle 10H
Students received a Bookazine voucher as their prize.
Year 3 and 4 Author Narelle Cridland Book Orders
Please note the final day for book orders will be Monday 6 September. Please send in your order form with payment in a named envelope. The books will be signed by Ms Cridland and shipped up to Hong Kong from Perth. Due to restrictions, these may not be delivered until Term 4. We thank you in advance for your understanding.
Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) 2021
The Premier’s Reading Challenge ends today. Thank you to all the students who participated this year. Special thanks to mums, dads and aunties who assisted in logging the books read to the online reading log. Your assistance and support are much appreciated. Student’s certificates will be distributed in Term 4.
Wishing all the dads a very Happy Aussie Father’s Day this Sunday! We hope you share a story together as part of your celebrations.
