I am writing with exciting news regarding the Hong Kong Generation Next Arts Music festival for 2021 and AISHK’s involvement with this festival this year.
Hong Kong Generation Next Arts Limited(HKGNA) is a registered charity founded in 2009. HKGNA’s mission is to inspire and nurture artistic excellence and personal success in our next generation of young artists and transform lives through music. They have hosted music festivals for the last 7 or 8 years in Hong Kong and inspirational concerts and events have been held featuring some of Hong Kong’s top musicians including internationally acclaimed pianist, Michelle Kim, who is also the artistic director of HKGNA. Michelle who has performed in concert halls throughout the US, Europe and Asia including performances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Caramoor, New Jersey Performing Art Center, Sejong Cultural Center, Hong Kong Cultural Center, LACMA and Chicago Cultural Center, among others. It will be a great privilege for our students to work alongside her.
AISHK has been asked to include our string ensemble in a performance alongside other international and local schools in the Music for Gen Next Concert on Thursday November 18 at the Y theatre in Chai Wan as part of the 2021 festival. I will be writing with more details of this event very soon.
Apart from this exciting youth concert, I am also alerting you to the 4th HKGNA International Music Competition 2021 for this year which is open to performers from the age of 6 up to 25. Information and application details are included in this link; http://www.hkgna.com/musiccomp-2021/, and the deadline is for Thursday 30 September. It would be lovely to see some of our students taking part and the timing may work particularly well if your son or daughter has been working on their videos for our Primary Music Recitals too.
As ever, thank you for your support for the Performing Arts Department at AISHK.
