Library Update | Term 3 Week 1

A warm welcome back to Term 3 from the Library Team!

This semester, we welcome Ms Kathy Thomas to the Library to assist with Primary lessons and library services.

Our big event of the year is coming up very soon – in Week 6 we will celebrate Book Week!  This year the theme is ‘Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds’.  On Friday 27 August, students (Reception-Year 12) and staff are invited to dress up in the theme or as their favourite book character. We will send further details about our planned celebrations closer to the date.

It has been wonderful to welcome everyone back to school after the holiday break. The students have utilised the Library space for study, borrowing, research, quiet reading and the odd game or two of UNO!

Year 7 PC Sessions

This term, I will be working with the Year 7 classes on their time management and study skills. Using the program Study Samurai, the students will work through a series of activities. This week the teachers and I presented some information regarding time management and we have allocated some tasks for students to complete over the next week.

Library Lessons Term 3 (Reception-Year 6)

This term, our focus in Library is on literature as we celebrate books! In lessons, the students will focus on visual literacy and read the 2021 CBCA Shortlisted Books. Students in Reception-Year 2 will read the Early Childhood Category and Years 3-6 the Picture Book of the Year Category. All students will vote for their favourite book and this will be announced during Book Week in Week 6.

Premier’s Reading Challenge Primary Update (Prep-Year 6)

The countdown is on and the students now have FOUR weeks to complete the 2021 Premier’s Reading Challenge. A special thank you to those who have completed this already-a fantastic effort!

May I ask you (or your child) to log in and check the reading record to see how many more books are needed to finish:

  • Prep-Year 2: 30 books
  • Years 3-6: 20 books

Login and password details were emailed out in March from the Library email. If you are unable to locate the details, please contact your child’s class teacher or the Library Team for assistance.

Book Week Video Photo Submissions (Reception-Year 6)

What worlds did you visit in your books this summer? Old Worlds, New Worlds or Other Worlds?

It is time to collect some photos of students reading for our annual Book Week display/slideshow.

Keeping the Book Week theme in mind ‘Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds’, please take a photo of your child reading at home or somewhere in Hong Kong.

Submit your photos here via the Google Form:

Please share your photos by no later than Friday 13 August (Week 4).
