During assembly on Wednesday we were delighted to launch a new initiative for 2021; the AISHK Shakespeare Festival. This is a first for AISHK and we’re most excited about sharing the joy of Shakespeare with the wider school community.
The festival will take place across Weeks 8 and 9 of Term 2 and will involve a range of initiatives including performances from the Dove Tale Theatre company, practical workshops, immersion experiences, mock trials and interactive displays. The jewel in the crown of the festival is the competition which will be open to all students from Years 7 to 10 providing students with the opportunity to perform but also to engage in direction, costume and poster design.
Everyone has their own relationship with Shakespeare and that is something that we feel is worth exploration! Over the course of the festival, we’ll be asking Secondary students to consider their experiences with Shakespeare; the good, the bad and the ugly! We’ll also be sharing these experiences through a weekly ‘column’ in Dhanara entitled Shakespeare and Me, beginning with the musings of Mr Marc Allante next week!
The AISHK Shakespeare Festival provides us with a wonderful opportunity to connect as a community and to bask in the genius of the bard. We hope we hope that you’re as excited about this journey as we are!
Please enjoy the AISHK Shakespeare Festival introductory video. We look forward to updating the community further via Dhanara next week.
