Embracing Chinese Learning Outside the Classroom

Last year, Primary introduced a double lesson in Chinese in Years 3-6 to provide more in-depth teaching and learning for students.

The Chinese Department has embraced the extra time with the students by providing more opportunities to learn outside the classroom. This has been beneficial to the students as they are able to learn Chinese in a fun and interactive way, while also enjoying space, fresh air and the sunshine of the outdoors.

Activities include the Amazing Race, paper airplane races, Chinese character treasure hunt, QR scanning scavenger hunt, drawing and writing in the playground or under the trees, playing traditional games including ‘What’s the time, Mr Wolf?’ and a Chinese word game called ‘Splash’.

We look forward to seeing the students again in Term 2!
