[Head of Secondary] Term 4 Week 9 Update

Congratulations to Year 12 on their successful Valedictory assembly on Tuesday 17 November. The warm words and kind congratulations of parents, teachers and students made the event a very special moment in our school calendar. The students, along with Year 11, enjoyed their Senior Formal the following night, which is another way to mark the transition from school. And yet, being young at heart, the Year 12s were able to enjoy a day at Ocean Park today and let their ‘inner child’ run free at the theme park.

The 2020 Through My Eyes project reached its culmination today with cross-subject classes and year levels working through three lessons to produce reflective projects and pieces to represent what this year has been like for each. Personal perspectives and creative approaches will produce product which can be published and shared, with the aim that this will enhance our ability to reflect on the 2020 school year. Thank you to all teachers who worked with students for the duration of the projects.

The prefects for 2021 received their badges of office today. This was a ‘closed’ event, but video recorded. The prefects will take-up the work aspects of their office immediately as there are several leadership opportunities for them to work through in these last weeks of the term. We offer our congratulations to them and the video of the badge presentation will be shown during our Week 9 online assembly.

The 2021 prefects and roles are:

Looking forward to next week, we have the action of Year 7 camp across four days in the Sai Kung area; the Year 6 Orientation Day on Wednesday 25 November and the Year 10 ‘Futures’ events with three days of careers, service and senior studies planning to work through.

These events make for a busy end of term and are an essential part of the development and school life for all the students. I’m sure they will gain much from the experiences and we will enjoy their tales of accomplishment once completed.

Best wishes,

Howard West | Head of Secondary
