Our best wishes go to Year 12 students as they complete final preparations for their examinations which start next week. They have had the last four days in classes for final reviews and tactics, after their 11 days study preparation period, and they have demonstrated again, their exemplary collegial spirit. There were some shared end-of-classes gifts exchanged between Year 12s as well as notes of gratitude sent to Prep students, who had earlier wished them well on their finishing school
Their examinations will be completed by mid-November and we look forward to celebrating their results, once they arrive.
We completed the capturing of student portrait photographs this week and the Techni-Photo company will proceed with the printing, as well as preparing class group compilations, which we will publish in the Year Book and be made available to families. Under the circumstances of COVID-19, this seems to be an effective way to represent our students in class group imagery. There will also be many school-based casual images shown in the Year Book as usual.
Secondary students can wear their PE uniform to school each Friday this term as they will continue to have activities each week on a rotational plan. Their Home Room teachers will give them advice of what activities are scheduled.
The Typhoon signal 8 raised this week on Tuesday threw us a curveball and I congratulate all students who engaged in the lessons the teachers were running. It was a difficult ask, organisationally, for many and there is no absence penalty for those who missed their lesson on the day. We will further consider the conjunction of online learning and future weather disruptions, so that we can be better prepared and effectively utilise the time without comprising safety or meaningful organisation.
I wish to share my gratitude, on my appointment as Head of School for 2021, and I am proud to be able to work with all staff and students to maintain and extend the excellent standards the School has in place. Additionally, I look forward to greeting and conversing with each of you through the remainder of this year and into 2021.
