[Head of Primary Message] Week 1 Update

Welcome to Term 3.

After an eventful past couple of weeks, we find ourselves at the end of a rather busy Week 1.¬†As I am sure many of us may have experienced, the start of this term has come with some disappointment that we cannot return to school on campus. Despite this, I would like to take this opportunity to echo Mr Hemphill’s message of thanks to all who have worked hard, with patience and flexibility, to ensure the smoothest start to Term 3 as possible, under the current circumstances.

This includes the parents, students and staff who have adapted so swiftly to our online learning program which we continue to enhance and develop for our students.

Drawing on our previous experience, this term saw all primary students allocated with a Student Resource Pack for the commencement of the term. Over 700 packs were prepared in one day, for the timely provision of study and creative materials, to support families in making a swift start to online learning. For students of Years 4 to 6, systems were put in place to ensure their laptops could be collected or delivered for use. This process has worked well this week and we thank our families for adopting these logistics which were prepared in a short amount of time.

This term, AISHK welcomes 44 new primary students. It has been wonderful to welcome so many new members of the school community and to assist them in settling as well as possible! Please make any new families who you may know feel very welcome. For more about our new families, please see the update from our Admissions Team.

This term we are delighted to welcome Ms Aliki Watson-Jones to AISHK as our new Music Teacher for Years 2 to 6. We also welcome back Mr Chris McCorkell, who is teaching our Transition Program, and Ms Melissa Atkins, Classroom Assistant for 1N, and Ms Tara Wnek, Classroom Assistant for Prep S.

We hope the first week of term has been as successful as possible for students and families, and we thank you again for your ongoing support.
