We are looking forward to meeting with Year 10 parents and students next week as part of the senior subject selection process for 2021. There will be two repeat information sessions held on Tuesday 9 June – one at 7:55am, and another at 7:00pm. Both sessions will take place in the school’s 9th floor Staff Centre.
Choosing a pathway for senior study is a very significant and exciting milestone for our Year 10 students. At AISHK, we are proud to offer two internationally regarded senior programs in the New South Wales Higher School Certificate and International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. While both programs consistently lead our students into the most prestigious universities and colleges worldwide, there are noteworthy differences that should be considered in deciding which program is most suitable for your child.
At the information sessions, we will explore some of the key factors in choosing between the HSC and IB. We will also outline the various subjects and courses we plan to offer next year in both programs. Mr West and I will be joined by Ms Elise Kelly, Head of Year 10, and the eight Secondary Heads of Key Learning Areas who manage our different academic departments. These key personnel will be available to answer any of your questions about the subjects and courses offered at AISHK, and the suitability of your child to a particular pathway. These information sessions are intended as an introduction to selecting senior subjects, with formal interviews offered to all families at the start of Term 3 before final decisions are made.
For an overview of the senior pathways offered at AISHK, please refer to the 2021 HSC & IB Handbook which contains key information about both programs. I look forward to seeing many of you next week!
