Whilst the Olympic action in Tokyo has been postponed until 2021,the AISHK Primary Division today held an online Olympics for students in Prep to Year 6.
Students gathered in Houses via Zoom for some inspiration from the house captains and patrons, before completing a range of Olympic events such as Sprinting, Archery and Powerlifting. All of which had been modified to allow participants to compete using space and equipment available in their homes.
Students recorded theirs scores using either the Flipgrid website/app or Google Forms. The scores were scrutinised and recorded by the fantastic team of primary teachers and teaching assistants, without whom the day could not have run.
The day saw a huge number of students involved with 3,4,71 videos submitted – that’s nearly over 8 days worth of video! It was clear to see from each video, the effort and enjoyment on display from our students throughout the day.
Special mention to Mr Ben Picker for his particularly creative and entertaining Jacaranda war cry!
All students are to be congratulated for their effort, integrity and attitude throughout the day. Special thanks also to the teaching staff of AISHK who were amazing throughout the day and made sure the scores got checked, as well as sharing their excitement and energy with the kids throughout the day.
The carnival was scored based on the nine events (War cry, Sprint, Hurdles, Archery, Gymnastics, Long Jump, Tennis, Netball/Basketball & Powerlifting) The winning house in each of these events was awarded 90 points, second place received 70, third place 50 and fourth place 40.
The final scores and placing are below:
1st – Waratah 520
2nd – Wattle 510
3rd – Eucalypt 500
4th – Jacaranda 470
