Library Update Term 4 Week 2

This week, some primary students trialled the Virtual Reality (VR) headsets. This was a wonderful opportunity for the Year 3 students to experience for themselves the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef and for Year 4 to immerse themselves into a variety of Biomes in South America and Africa. Some feedback we received from Year 4 was that: “The VR was easy to use and I could learn new things I didn’t know about”; “It was very cool because it was comfortable. I could control it and put it on easily”; “It was awesome!”

We look forward to more students using these VR headsets to help them learn about the Geography curriculum this term.

Chinese Reading at Lunchtime

The Chinese Lunchtime Reading Program for Prep-Year 6 students continued today and Mr Hempel popped in for visit. We look forward to welcoming students to the Library each Friday to relax and enjoy Chinese Story Time.

Library Book Collection

The Library Staff have been working hard this year to review the Library collection and keep it as up to date and as relevant as possible. We have weeded a  number of books where we have multiple copies or old versions. These have all been taken off the Library system and are now available for you/your child to take home. If you would like to leave a small donation, the money will go back into purchasing new books for the Library.

Battle of the Books Year 4 and Year 5

As mentioned previously, we have entered a team into the Hong Kong ‘Battle of the Books’ competition for 2019-2020 and have a wonderful group of dedicated readers. The students are busy reading the 20 books on the list. As the books are in high demand, a friendly reminder that the books are available online through https://aishk.wheelers.co/ (Use this link and log in with your school email to access your account).

E-Books and Audio Books

Ebooks and audiobooks now available for AISHK students anytime and anywhere! Use this link (https://aishk.wheelers.co/) and log in with your school email to access your account. Download the app on your device and start reading or listening to books. If you are after a particular book we don’t have in the library, you may request it via email (library@aishk.edu.hk) or within the app on your device.
