Week 8 of Term 3 saw the introduction of STAR Cards to staff and students from Reception to Year 12. The purpose of STAR Cards is to encourage all members of the AISHK community to openly express gratitude toward others through our school values: collaboration, responsibility, respect, honesty, trust, excellence, diligence, creativity, integrity and equity. The cards allow the sender to decide which AISHK value or values the receiver practised or practises and then write a short message, in their own words, describing what the receiver did to receive the gratitude.
In Reception to Year 2, the STAR Cards were managed in classrooms. Throughout Week 8, the Primary and Secondary SRC’s organised a table at lunchtime for Year 3 to Year 12 to voluntarily express their gratitude to members of the AISHK community. Over 1100 STAR Cards were written from student to student, student to staff, staff to staff and staff to student. Senders had the option of being anonymous and once cards were written, they were put in the AISHK internal post.
The STAR Cards were distributed schoolwide in Week 9 spreading positive emotions at a time when it’s needed the most. A huge thanks to all those who participated in the Term 3 STAR Card week either by encouraging, sending, receiving or distributing STAR Card gratitude schoolwide. Term 4 will bring further opportunities to express gratitude however, you don’t have to wait for STAR Card week, express your gratitude today!
