Library News: Book Week Recap

What a SUPER Book Week!

We have had a wonderful week celebrating the power of reading at AISHK!

Reception, Prep and Year 1, created Lego creatures inspired by ‘Heads and Tails Insects’ by John Canty. Year 2 participated in their first year-level quiz; this year the children used iPads and the Kahoot app to answer the questions.  Years 3-6 also competed in Kahoot quizzes and we all had lots of fun! All the Kahoot quizzes related to books, authors and stories and were designed to engage the students’ interest in reading.

A special thank you to the lovely parents who generously donated Lego to the Library for us to use this week; Early Childhood certainly put it to good use and we are looking forward to all the possibilities it will give us for our learning.

It was great to see so many students from Reception all the way through to Year 12 in costume today! A big thank you to students, parents and staff for your efforts. A special mention goes to the Year 6 Library Monitors, who excelled themselves with their creative efforts and presentation skills. Liana Martin from 6A, designed the fantastic AISHK Book Week logo; she is to be congratulated for her amazing talent.

It has also been lovely to hear positive feedback on the new Reading Challenge – 20 Nights of Reading. We hope you are all enjoying developing a shared love of reading with your children.
