It has been a busy start to Term 3 with lots of activity happening around the Primary Division. Some of this has included:
- Excursions to Museums;
- Shopping trips to Festival Walk;
- An interrupted but successful Jacaranda Mufti Day;
- Parent information sessions for Year 3 Camp, the Year 6 Beijing trip and Creating Compassionate Conversations with our Tweens and Teens;
- A visit from Jurassic Garage to Prep and Year 3 visit from where they got the chance to meet a tarantula, millipedes, red snake, python, legless lizard, tortoise, Australian bearded dragon and an African bullfrog. See all the action in our photo gallery and video below!
We still have lots more coming up in the Primary Division this term. Read below for a few updates of what’s coming up.
Early Childhood Musical
Stella the Starfish Musical is well and truly under way! The actors and narrators have been rehearsing and classes have begun learning their parts as well. We have had hardworking parents assisting in putting props together and are very grateful for their time and effort. This week has been organising the ticket sales which will be available very soon. More information on ticketing will be shared with Early Childhood parents in the coming week.
Save the date: Father’s Day breakfast
A message to the fathers of Primary and Early Childhood children to save the date for Friday 30 August. We will be holding a Father’s Day breakfast and an opportunity to do some activities with your child/ren at school. It will be a fun and exciting morning and we are looking for a great turn out from Dads.
Book Week preparations are well under way for Week 5. The Reading Challenge sheets have been given to the students and people are beginning to think about their Book Week costume. Please take the time to read the information about the Reading Challenge. It is has changed a little bit this year to put a stronger focus on a shared love of reading at home. We are all looking forward to the week.
Year 3 – 6 Disco
Parents of Years 3-6 will have received an email on Thursday inviting their Primary child/ren to participate in our Disco organised by Secondary SRC. The secondary students have put together a fantastic Disco for the students. They have been organising all the logistics, catering, creating ideas for theme and putting together information for parents. It is recognition of the positive relationships we have at AISHK when Secondary students are willing to give up their time to provide an opportunity for the primary students.
A reminder that it is a student-free day on Friday 16 August. The teachers will be involved in professional learning for deepening their understanding of our reading program, SHARP Reading. We have brought in an expert presenter who will work with our teachers for the next three school day starting Friday.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the Summer Soirée on Saturday night.
