The countdown is on and we are now only one week away from Book Week 2019-Reading is my Super Power!
This term, the boys and girls have read the shortlisted books in the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) competition. Early Childhood students read the Book of the Year: Early Childhood category and Primary students read the Picture Book of the Year category. During Week 4, all children will vote for their favourite book during their Library borrowing time. The winners will be announced during the Book Week assemblies.
Our Book Week celebrations will be held in Week 5. This year, students may borrow from the Library on their scheduled day and we will host special activities throughout the week. On Friday 23rd August, we have the following events:
- Students (Reception-Year 12) may dress up as their favourite book character or perhaps their costume will be connected to this year’s theme.
- Parade-all classes will parade on the field from 8:15am-8:35am. There will be a class photo opportunity at approximately 8:30am. This year, secondary students can also be part of the parade.
- Early Childhood Assembly will be held at 8:45-9:15
- Primary Assembly will be held at 9:20-10:05
20 Nights of Reading Challenge 2019 (Prep-Year 6)
The Tower of Books Reading Challenge (20 nights of reading) will run for 4 weeks (Week 4-Week 7). The aim of the challenge this year is to develop a shared love of reading. The challenge sheet will be stapled into the back of your child’s school diary. Please refer to the parent letter on the reverse side of the sheets for all details.

I have received some wonderful photos of the boys and girls reading over the holidays. If you haven’t had the chance to email one through, it’s not too late. I’d love to collect some more photos from you of your children reading for a Library display. Perhaps you happened to snap a great photo when you were on your recent holiday? Please email photos to firstname.lastname@example.org
