On the 30th of July, AISHK hosted a Blood Donation Drive supported by the Hong Kong Red Cross Transfusion Service. HKRC began its blood donation programmes in 1952 and continues to act as the only public institution providing blood to hospitals around Hong Kong. In Hong Kong, blood inventories are facing an acute deficit, the HKRC has been urging donors from all walks of life to donate in order to replenish Hong Kong’s blood stocks.
The Blood Donation Drive was a successful event, we had approximately 75 donors who went through the sign-up process and 42 successful donors, each donating 450 ml of blood. A single blood donation can save up to 3 people, so it was wonderful to see the impact our school’s donation had on the community.
Thank you to the students, staff and parents who took the time to sign up for the Blood Drive, your generosity is greatly appreciated. The work of the HKRC personnel and staff is also immensely appreciated, it was a pleasure to work with such kind and generous individuals. A big thank you to Mr. McGunnigle and others who helped with the organisation of the event.
It was a privilege to coordinate the Blood Donation Drive of 2019, YES Club hopes to host future donations each semester in the upcoming year.
