Battle of the Books
We are excited to announce AISHK will be entering a team into Hong Kong’s Battle of the Books competition in the 2019-2020. Battle of the Books is an inter-school competition in Hong Kong designed to introduce students to a variety of reading material, build teamwork skills, and allow opportunities to have fun with books!
Students who are keen to participate must commit not only to reading 20 books, but also their time for preparation. The competition will be held in May and the final in June, 2020.
At this stage, we are after expressions of interest from any student currently in Year 4 or Year 5 (they must not turn 12 until July, 2020). This week, we held an initial meeting and I will hold another one at recess on Monday 17th June to go into further detail. The Library staff have ordered the books and hope to get children reading before the Summer holidays if possible.
Parents of students who have expressed interest will receive an email in the coming week.

Book Week-Week 5, Term 3
The Book Week theme this year is Reading is my Superpower. Book Week will be celebrated in Week 5, Term 3 (Monday 19th August-Friday 23rd August).
Book Week is run by the Australian Children’s Book Council and celebrates outstanding books for children. It encourages children of all ages to consider how significant books can be, not only as a means of entertainment and escape, but as a way of informing their understanding of the world around us.
This year, Secondary will join us in some of our Book Week celebrations. The Book Week Parade, Early Childhood Assembly and Primary Assembly will be held on Friday 23rd August; further details and ideas will follow closer to the date.
