A warm welcome back from the Library Team! (Ms Crawford, Mrs Atkins, Mrs Tse, Mrs Chow and Mrs Thomas)

It has been lovely to welcome all the students (Reception to Year 12) back to school for the 2019 school year. This week, our Secondary students successfully borrowed their text books and Primary students chose some books for their classroom bookshelves. Year 2, Year 3 & Year 5 students also participated in an ‘Introduction to the Library’ lesson.

In Week 2, all Primary students will commence borrowing (Borrowing Information and 2019 Schedule here) and Prep, Year 1, Year 4 and Year 6 will participate in their ‘Introduction to the Library’ lesson.

Primary Library News

This year we will be introducing a new Library routine for the Primary classes:

  • Reception will borrow one book each week and attend the Library fortnightly to enjoy a story.
  • Prep to Year 6 will borrow from the Library on the same day each week at a set 15-minute time

Each term, the Prep-Year 6 students will attend four to five timetabled lessons with both Mrs Atkins (Teacher-Librarian) and the Class Teacher in the Library. Lessons will be co-planned
and co-taught by the teachers and will focus on developing
Information Literacy Skills across the Australian Curriculum.

Primary Library After School

Students in Years 3-6 may come to the Library after school if they are waiting for an ECA to commence or waiting for an older sibling to finish school at 3:30pm. They must complete homework or read quietly whilst in the Library. The Library Team will check-in with students as they arrive and confirm their pick-up arrangements. The Library closes at 4pm for Primary students.

Students in Early Childhood, must be supervised by a parent/guardian/helper whilst in the Library after school.
